What does one do on a clear Saturday after the winter gods have blessed the mountains with enough of a base to make backcountry skiing a real option again? Skin up Mount St. Helens to take advantage of its 5500' of epic downhill, of course. Probably the hardest skin I have ever done out here, with a real need to do solid edging and have good skins for climbing. The ski down was chunky in parts and the ski in the woods back to the parking lot was quite slick, but a really good day out in the mountains.
