The Island Wants Me To Stay

First, my car would not start when I tried to leave for Bend by plane. A battery drained of power, or so I believed since the passenger door was ajar. Then, I come back to drive across country and got the car jump started. I let it run for half an hour, and it seems fine. The next day, it is dead again. I get a new battery. Rather pricey, but the car is functional again. The plan to leave continues.

The following day is the warmest day of the year so far with beautiful sun and temperatures. I just so happened to have bought running shoes the day before. The island tries to lead me astray with temptation. I would have none of it. Instead I planned my route and got directions written out for my night time berths. While doing that on the computer the power went out for fifteen minutes.

Today, I got to the car ferry over fifteen minutes before it is meant to leave. There is a line all the way to the art gallery on Island Ave. and a large truck is first in line. Obviously, there was not enough room on the car ferry for everyone so I am back here at home waiting for the next one to arrive.

I am starting to wonder if this next ferry is going to sink...

Update: I wrote this on my iPhone while waiting for the ferry, so I just came back and fixed some of the spelling and grammar errors.
