The First Month (or so) of Semi-Retirement
Having met a dozen or so new people in the past month, when asked the "what do you do question?" I have started responding that I am semi-retired. Seems more apt. I am not really looking for any manner of work position and may not do so for months still, so I am not unemployed. Slacker does not seem exactly helpful when trying to make a good impression with a girlfriend's friends and family. Cannot say I am on vacation as it does not really answer the question. And, alas, I do not have large bundles of Benjamins in my closet, so this retirement is not permanent. Hence, semi-retired.
Let's do a quick tally of what I have been up to...
What I, tragically, have not done...
My original goal for May was to get back into relatively good physical shape, explore what might develop between Kathryn and I, and start planning the rest of my summer. June is meant for trips about the Pacific Northwest and projects. Dan has a little video project we are doing this weekend and then Cameron and I are climbing Mt. Hood next weekend. I am also planning on taking at least one, if not two, backpacking trips this month to test out a few pieces of new gear. Gear that I intend to use during my late August and September trek through Oregon along the Pacific Crest Trail. There is, also, a fair chance I might start rock climbing at the gym this month too, as I feel completely unmanly not being able to go climbing outside with friends right now as I lack both the experience and strength.
