The Department of Overwhelming Haziness

I really overslept this morning. 10:30 a.m., and I am fairly sure I went to bed around 12:30 or so. Ten hours of sleep and I am not quite sure my body really needed any extra. Sure enjoyed it though.

Part of the blame has to be directed at the oppressive grey clouds hanging around outside. When I woke up, I could have sworn it was still early as my room was still rather dark. There is a small window directly above my bed that faces east, so I usually know when it is morning.

Also, I spent five days up in Seattle with Kathryn where we took a trip up to Bellingham, met her sister and brother-in-law, and I got introduced to the important friends through various activities. Good times. We were rather lazy in the mornings though as there was nothing we had to do, so we often did not get going until shortly before the noon hour. Lazy lazy lazy.

So, I am on the internet battling some indecisiveness. Do I go off for a hike, perhaps one not too far away in the Gorge? Devil's Rest is catching my eye as I have only done it once and it seems like a good way to exercise my legs with some elevation gain.

My alternative is to take care of a few more items on the To Do list in my notebook. One of the big ones is heading off to the DMV and getting a new Oregon license and Oregon registration for the car. First, I would have to take the car to the DEQ center to have its emissions tested. Frankly, that whole process seems like a waste of time to me. Even with the dull weather a hike seems infinitely better.

Looking at the DEQ website, it says that Thursday is the least busy day of the week. Seems reason enough to go then as the weather is predicted to be exactly the same tomorrow, albeit with rain. Not so sure I can really get myself to go hiking today though. Went outside and the clouds are just so uninviting, especially by myself. Maybe this is one of those days I go to a coffee shop and read all day.
