Rise of the Smiling Man
Hm. When I first planned my trip to Seattle, I had wandering daydreams about what might happen. Hopes that I beat down into submission as I did not want to put too many expectations on a single day and a half trip. Those hopes arose again during the weekend, became reality, and slapped a smile onto my face. Saying that it went well would be an understatement. No idea where it will lead, if anywhere, but I am not minding a single bit the uplifting feelings or the small smile that appears every so often.

Not only did the weekend go well, but the week looks extremely promising as well. Sometime in the next three days, EllisLab is going to make an announcement that excites me to no end. Rick has not indicated when exactly he will post his entry about it, but it will definitely be up by Wednesday. Perhaps it is only exciting to me, so no one get their hopes up that we figured out cold fusion or anything. I mean, that would be silly, we have only written software up to this point and have not a single physics degree among us. Then again, none of us exactly have a Computer Science degree either.
And as all the geeks in the audience know, we have Iron Man coming out on Friday. A trailer that was so awesome and insanely popular, that Hollywood decided to adapt into a full-length feature (The Onion). Never having been overly interested in the Iron Man character, I found the trailer to be quite tantalizing. I already bought a ticket to see it downtown Thursday night where it is being shown via a Digital Projector. Hopefully, it will not be so good as to require me to see it again on Friday.

Just because I have been enjoying the brilliance of every single of its comics in the last week, I think I should mention xkcd.com again. Quite possibly the best online comic for geeks. Sorry, Sluggy Freelance, you're off the top of my list. I still love you though, especially as you point out all of the odd rules and circumstances in the Harry Potter books over this past month.

Finally, what is with AT&T making any manner of media text message into a page on one of their websites protected with a username and password? Could they at least send me a URL as a direct link? Would that really be too difficult for them to code up? If so, I am more than willing to spare half an hour of my time to figure it out for them. Because, come on, when a friend sends me a photo of her cat lounging about on a couch — you know really important stuff that I simply must see — it is frustrating to flip back and forth between SMS and Safari typing the access information in. Sheesh.
