Howling at the Moon without Hobbes

There is something really tragically wrong with my life.

Full moon on a beautiful weekend night. Perfect temperature for hiking, cool but not cold. Just past midnight and a dozen people are already at the house after watching The Fellowship of the Ring. And, yet, not a single person wanted to go to Dog Mountain and hike up solely by the light of the moon.

Odd shapes and sounds everywhere around you. No flashlight, just your imagination and your natural night vision.

A summit to howl from as long and as loud as you wanted. One could even stay up there and see the sunrise over the Columbia Gorge at the start of a beautiful Spring day.

Had to do it alone. I admit it was fun and great, but if people, even a single, motivated person, had come along it could have been fantastic.
